This striking maze-like design draws on detail from traditional tribal raffia textiles from the Kuba kingdom in the Congo. These embroidered cloths have been individually conceptualised with the patterns being passed through the generations, staying within the family. The overall scale of our Kuba rug has a contemporary effect while the soft, imperfect edges of the motif recall the intricately handmade nature of the original textile that inspired it.
