Ondine
Material: /sea/SILKE
Ondine, named after the water spirit of European folklore, explores the sea through colour and woven structure. The design is composed of interwoven strips of colour, creating an effect reminiscent of traditional woven baskets. The regularity of the pattern gives it a sense of order, while the subtle shifts between colours create a more intriguing quality.
The handloom construction gives Ondine a quiet, tactile character, with the rhythm of the pattern creating depth without relying on a strong graphic motif. Its restrained geometry gives the design a classic quality, while the softer palette and fluid colour relationships introduce a more feminine sensibility.
Handcrafted in /sea/SILKE™, Ondine brings together traditional rug-making techniques with a new silk-performance fibre developed predominantly from reclaimed fishing nets and post-consumer waste. The fibre's subtle lustre adds another dimension to the woven effect, allowing the colours to shift gently as light moves across the surface.
The result is a rug that feels ordered yet intriguing, feminine yet timeless — a contemporary interpretation of traditional woven structure through the lens of /sea/SILKE.

All of our rugs are handmade in either Nepal or India where the heritage of rug-weaving is centuries old. Details of the specialities in each location can be found here.
We use Tibetan-style knotting in our hand-knotted rugs which is a speciality of Nepal. In India, our weavers embrace innovation and produce flatwoven, handloom, and hand-knotted rugs in almost any fibre including wools, silks, linens and our /re/PURPOSE PERFORMANCE fibres.
