Pelagos

Pelagos, the Greek word for open water, takes its inspiration from the expansive, shifting surface of the sea. The design draws subtly on the irregular character that resembles ikat, with an unstructured pattern that feels fluid, relaxed and deliberately imperfect.

The entire rug is constructed in loop pile, creating a softer, more casual surface and allowing the pattern to emerge through texture rather than defined outlines. This approach is particularly characteristic of Tibetan hand-knotting, where variations in loop height give the surface a natural, tactile quality.

Made in /sea/SILKE™, Pelagos combines this traditional Tibetan technique with a new silk-performance fibre developed predominantly from reclaimed fishing nets and post-consumer waste. The fibre's soft handle, subtle lustre and resilience bring a refined quality to the relaxed construction.

The result is a rug that feels easy, understated and contemporary — an interpretation of open water through colour, texture and the inherent irregularity of the hand.
