Custom Rug Orders

1. Initial Consultation

Your rug journey usually starts with a free consultation either via phone, email or by appointment at our London showroom. This will give you the opportunity to tell us about your project, share images of the space and discuss the overall effect you are looking to achieve with your rug.

2. Choose a design and weaving technique

A rug helps to set the tone of a room so first, it is important decide the feel that you are trying to achieve. Whether the mood is luxurious, elegant, casual, contemporary or traditional, your rug will serve to enhance this feeling. Rugs with an abstracted effect are often a great option for softly introducing colour, while geometric designs are inherently pleasing to the eye and help instil sense of calmness and order — but we will of course help you choose!

Our website showcases our entire library of designs, which can all be customised to your taste. Alternatively, we can work with you to create a brand new design completely from scratch. In the past we have taken inspiration from photographs, vintage scarves and much-treasured objects collected on our clients’ travels. Most designs are available in all weaving techniques (flatwoven and Tibetan hand knotted) but please contact us to discuss your options.

3. Select colours and materials

Taking into consideration the tones and textures used in your interior scheme, we then select colours for your rug. Choose a colour from our almost infinite selection of wool and silk tufts or let us match your fabric, paint or even your favourite lipstick.

We list three standard example sizes (1.8m x 2.4m, 2.5m x 3m and 3m x 4m) in our online shop but all of our rugs can be created in your precise dimensions. The loom is built specifically to accommodate each piece so almost any size can be achieved. Read our measuring and fitting guide here.

4. Sampling and production

Once we have finalised the details of your rug, we will then send a digital rendering within a couple of days for your approval and can arrange for a small sample to be made where required, which takes approximately 4 weeks. As soon as the rendering or sample is approved, the dyeing of the yarns and building of the loom will begin. Read more about our commitment to craftsmanship here.

5. Watch your rug come to life on the loom

We send regular photo updates to show the progress of your rug and the meticulous craft behind its creation. Once complete, your rug will be carefully wrapped and sent by air courier to its destination. It will then be yours to enjoy for many years to come.
